  • What Fabrics Do FitDocs Scrubs Use?

Every FitDocs fabric is selected by healthcare professionals, for healthcare professionals. Here’s a breakdown of our fabric options and what each is best suited for:

Comodo Stretch Collection — Polyester / Rayon / Spandex Blend

Our most popular fabric. Designed for maximum movement and all-day comfort.

    • 4-way stretch for unrestricted movement
    • Moisture-wicking to keep you cool on long shifts
    • Wrinkle-resistant — stays crisp even after 12 hours
    • Withstands high-temperature washing (60°C) without fading
    • Best for: Theatre nurses, surgical teams, active clinical roles

Premium Cotton Blend — Cotton / Polyester Mix

    The classic healthcare professional’s choice.

    • Soft, breathable natural feel
    • Durable and long-lasting
    • Comfortable against the skin during extended wear
    • Best for: GP surgeries, dental practices, clinic environments

Performance Poly — Polyester / Spandex

For professionals who need maximum performance.

    • High flexibility and shape retention
    • Superior moisture management
    • Lightweight and quick-drying
    • Best for: Physiotherapists, emergency departments, high-movement roles

    Caring for your FitDocs:

    • Wash at 60°C for infection control compliance
    • Tumble dry on low or hang dry
    • No fabric softener (reduces moisture-wicking)
    • Iron on low if needed — most styles are wrinkle-resistant
  • Why Is There a Basting Stitch on My Pocket?

Don’t worry — this is completely intentional and a sign of quality craftsmanship!

A basting stitch is a temporary thread that keeps pocket openings neat and protected during garment production, shipping, and storage. It keeps the pocket’s shape intact until you’re ready to use it.

    To remove the basting stitch:

    *Method 1 (Outside of garment):*

    1. Locate the stitching at the pocket opening
    2. Gently pull the thread with your fingers, or carefully snip it with small scissors
    3. Remove all loose thread ends from both front and back

    *Method 2 (Inside of garment):*

    1. Turn the garment inside out
    2. Locate the thread corresponding to the pocket opening
    3. Pull to break the stitch and remove all threads

Once removed, your pocket is ready for use. If you’re having any difficulty or are concerned it might be a defect, email us at sales@fit-docs.com with a photo and we’ll confirm.

  • Do FitDocs Scrubs Meet NHS Infection Control Standards?

Yes. FitDocs scrubs are designed with UK clinical standards in mind.

    Infection Control Compliance:

    • Our fabrics withstand repeated washing at 60°C — the NHS recommended temperature for clinical uniform hygiene
    • Colours are fade-resistant at clinical wash temperatures
    • Fabric structure resists pilling and deterioration through frequent high-temperature cycles
    • We recommend our Polyester/Rayon/Spandex blend for environments with strict infection control protocols

    NHS Uniform Colour Guidance:

Many NHS Trusts specify uniform colours by role. Our most popular choices for NHS professionals:

    • Navy Blue — widely used for nurses and healthcare assistants
    • Royal Blue — common for specialist nursing and therapy roles
    • Grey — popular for administrative and support roles
    • Black — used in many private practice and aesthetic clinic settings
    • Hunter Green — theatre and surgical team standard in many trusts
💡 We recommend checking your Trust's uniform policy before ordering. If you're unsure, our team can advise on what other professionals in similar roles order.

Team & Trust orders: If you’re ordering for a full department or NHS Trust, our Team Ordering service includes volume discounts and consistent sizing runs. Contact sales@fit-docs.com for a quote.

  • How Do I Care for My FitDocs Scrubs?

Proper care extends the life of your scrubs and keeps them looking professional shift after shift.

    Washing:

    • Machine wash at 60°C for infection control (our fabrics are designed for this)
    • Wash dark colours with like colours to prevent colour transfer
    • Use a mild, non-biological detergent
    • Do NOT use bleach — it weakens fibres and fades colour
    • Do NOT use fabric softener — it reduces the moisture-wicking performance of technical fabrics

    Drying:

    • Tumble dry on low heat
    • OR hang dry — this extends garment life significantly
    • Remove from the dryer promptly to minimise creasing

    Ironing:

    • Most FitDocs styles are wrinkle-resistant and won’t need ironing
    • If ironing is needed, use a low-to-medium setting
    • Iron on the reverse side to protect print or embroidery details

    Embroidered items:

    • Wash inside out to protect embroidery threads
    • Avoid ironing directly over embroidered areas

Longevity tip: Rotating between 2–3 sets of scrubs (rather than washing the same set daily) significantly extends the life of each garment.
